The Novaryn Verge lies within the Outer Perseus Reach, at the furthest edge of humanity’s mapped expansion. Early expeditions reached the region during humanity’s period of interstellar expansion, establishing survey posts, extraction sites and research installations across its scattered worlds.Horizon Point began as one of those frontier installations. Built in orbit above Nova Obscura, a frozen world rich in critical resources, it grew from an industrial and logistics station into the centre of human civilisation in the Verge. From there, crews, probes and research vessels continue to push outward into the surrounding systems. That age of expansion ended with the Great Isolation. Long-range contact with Earth and wider human civilisation abruptly ceased. Ships stopped arriving. Messages went unanswered. The people of the Verge were left with the stations, infrastructure, machinery and knowledge already on their side of the silence.Generations later, much of the region is still only partially understood. Frozen super-terrestrials, temperate rift worlds, violent atmospheric planets, airless moons and near-global oceans sit beyond Horizon Point’s established routes. Some are worked every day. Others are reached only by survey crews, orbital stations, automated probes or brief surface rotations.Native life has been confirmed on a small number of worlds. Elsewhere, incomplete telemetry and unexplained readings leave questions beneath ice, cloud, rock and ocean. Large areas remain uncharted, while parts of the Verge’s own history survive only in incomplete, restricted or unrecovered records.

NOVA OBSCURA
THE EXTRACTION WORLD
Horizon Point’s location was chosen because of Nova Obscura, a planet with enormous deposits of
Veyrith and Caldryne beneath its glacial crust. These resources were critical for a station of
Horizon Point’s scale: Veyrith to fuel its primary reactors, and Caldryne to stabilise and regulate
the power they produced. Building the station in orbit above Nova Obscura ensured these vital
resources were close enough to make the project viable.
Ten DESR (Deep Extraction Survey Region) sites currently operate across Nova Obscura. DESR-9 is
the primary extraction site, supported by DESR-3 and DESR-5 as the other major centres. Reinforced
transit routes cut through the glacial plates, allowing crews and equipment to reach the mineral
seams below. Most of Horizon Point’s Veyrith and Caldryne passes through these three sites, alongside
the raw materials needed for manufacturing, repairs, life support and general station operations.
More recently, deep-survey arrays at several DESR sites have registered brief disturbances beneath
the ice. Most have been recorded as background interference caused by extraction machinery or
geological movement. A small number, however, appear to repeat in patterns that crews have been
unable to trace to any known equipment or natural process. The readings are intermittent and remain
too faint to be formally classified as a signal.

NARETH
THE LIVING RIFTS
Nareth is a temperate terrestrial world of mountain chains, river valleys, broad forests and immense
tectonic rifts. It is the closest known world in the Novaryn Verge to Earth-like habitability, with
abundant surface water, a native biosphere and an oxygen-bearing atmosphere that humans can breathe
within limits.
Permanent settlement has since been established on Nareth, growing beyond the early survey shelters
into a substantial human community. Although people can spend time outdoors without sealed
environmental suits, Nareth is not a perfect Earth analogue. Long-term exposure to its atmosphere
and native environment carries known limitations, and inhabited areas still rely on environmental
monitoring and controlled interior systems. Native life is widespread, but no intelligent species
has been confirmed.

THE WIND-CUT WORLD
Thalos is a dry terrestrial world shaped by iron-rich plateaus, fractured basins and escarpments
rising several kilometres above the surrounding desert. Dust moves constantly through its thin,
carbon-heavy atmosphere, gradually wearing away exposed rock and reshaping much of the surface.
Early robotic surveys detected veins of Vardecite within the planet’s deep granitic formations.
The mineral maintains unusually stable conductivity under extreme heat and radiation, making it
potentially valuable for sensor arrays, navigation systems and high-frequency communications
equipment. Geological teams now make limited visits from Horizon Point to assess the largest
deposits, although their depth and overall extent remain uncertain. The same surveys have also
suggested the presence of mineral-rich aquifers beneath the equatorial desert.

THE OUTER WATCH
Elysor is a signal and observation station positioned in orbit above Auren-Lo, extending Horizon Point’s
reach into one of the Verge’s more difficult survey regions. Its long-range arrays, probe control systems
and communications platforms support around 310 people, including researchers, engineers, flight crews,
operational staff and a small civilian population.
The station coordinates Auren-Lo’s atmospheric probes and extends long-range coverage beyond Horizon
Point’s routine survey network. Its outer arrays have also recorded activity that may correspond with
the distant region in which the Tear is observed, although neither its position nor any direct
connection has been confirmed.
Although many personnel still serve on rotation from Horizon Point, others have remained for years.
A small number of civilians and families now consider Elysor home, forming a close community around
the station’s working sections. Elysor still depends on Horizon Point for bulk provisions, medicine,
replacement equipment and specialist components, but life there has grown beyond the station’s
original operational purpose.

EIDRA
THE SMALL OCEAN WORLD
Eidra is a compact ocean world approximately the diameter of Mercury. Its remarkably clear waters reveal
submerged ridges, mineral shelves and vast changes in depth far beneath the surface. From orbit, the planet
appears calm and almost untouched, but its lower gravity allows storms to drive waves to extreme altitudes.
Smaller islands can disappear beneath the water for days before emerging again.
Eidra has a naturally breathable nitrogen-and-oxygen atmosphere, making it one of the few known worlds
beyond Horizon Point where people could survive outside a sealed habitat. The air is warm, humid and heavy
with salt, but presents no immediate danger under ordinary conditions. Landing remains difficult because
of the shifting weather, powerful tides and scarcity of stable ground.
Ocean probes have recorded unexplained movement beneath the upper waters, leaving open the possibility
that Eidra supports native marine life. There are also persistent accounts of a small outpost established
on one of the planet’s more stable islands. No corresponding location appears in accessible Novaryn Academy
star maps or Horizon Point survey records. Beyond distant transmissions, scattered testimony and word of
mouth, little is known about who built the outpost, or whether it is still inhabited.

Auren-Lo is a high-energy atmospheric world beneath the monitored orbit of Elysor Signal Station. Dense layers
of electrically charged clouds, violent currents and near-continuous storm activity conceal the entire surface.
Everything known about the planet comes from Elysor’s orbital instruments and incomplete probe telemetry.
No controlled descent through its atmosphere has ever been completed. Survey probes entering the lower cloud
layers suffer navigation failure, electrical overload or complete communications loss. There is no surface
infrastructure, and both the planet’s environment and the existence of native life remain unknown. No connection
between its storms and the Tear has been confirmed.

KRESUL
THE TWILIGHT DIVIDE
Kresul is a tidally locked terrestrial planet with one hemisphere permanently facing its star.
The sunward interior is dominated by scorched stone, copper-black dunes and temperatures beyond
the limits of ordinary surface equipment. Beyond the twilight region, the land gradually gives
way to a frozen nightward hemisphere where temperatures fall low enough to immobilise most
machinery within minutes.
Between these extremes lies a broad belt of permanent dusk. Powerful winds carry sand, frost and
suspended minerals across the thermal divide, carving the landscape into vast dune fields,
weathered pillars and deep sheltered ravines. Unlike most worlds surveyed from Horizon Point,
Kresul supports confirmed native life. Dark, low-growing organisms have been found beneath shaded
rock and along warmer subsurface channels, while larger forms have occasionally been detected
moving beyond established survey routes.
Horizon Point maintains weather towers, automated sensors and several reinforced survey shelters
throughout the twilight belt. Recently, long-range arrays recorded an unidentified anomaly beneath
one of the largest dune basins. The readings do not match known geological movement, weather activity
or native biology, but repeated interference has prevented a reliable scan. Further information is
restricted within the accessible survey record, with higher authorisation required to view the
original sensor data.

BENEATH THE RINGS
Velis-9 is a small, airless moon approximately half the diameter of Earth’s Moon. It orbits an immense
ringed planet whose reflected light is often brighter than the distant sun. Across the surface,
silver-grey regolith, exposed ridges and ancient impact basins are broken by deposits of dark,
glass-like rock.
Survey teams operate from prefabricated shelters near the largest crater fields. Several older impacts
appear to have fused parts of the surface into unusually pure crystalline layers. Samples are being
tested for use in optical sensors, data relays and other precision equipment, although the most promising
formations lie beyond the established survey routes.
Velis-9 is also known for the violet veil that occasionally gathers inside its deeper basins. Trace gases
escaping through surface fractures carry fine silicate and crystalline dust above the crater floor.
Charged by the ringed planet’s magnetic field, the particles remain suspended for several hours and glow
beneath its reflected light before dispersing back into space. Most appearances follow predictable
magnetic cycles. A small number have not, and survey teams have yet to explain why the glow sometimes
appears to move against the surrounding dust.

NOVARYN // HORIZON POINT
The City Above
Horizon Point hangs above Nova Obscura, a vast orbital city built through rings, districts and working levels around a central spine.
Built around a vast central spine, Horizon Point stretches through interconnected districts, transit lines, residential sectors, industrial levels and civic spaces. Over generations, the station has expanded, been rebuilt and grown around its older infrastructure, becoming less a single structure than a city suspended in orbit.
Life changes considerably from one part of Horizon to another. Meridian is defined by its civic spaces, institutions and cleaner upper concourses, while Synosis is denser and more residential, shaped by homes, markets, local businesses and the movement of everyday life. Calyx carries the divide between old and new more visibly, where newer development sits alongside ageing sections of the station that have never entirely disappeared.
Deeper within Horizon, the Grid, mechanical yards and Redline are louder, hotter and more industrial. Fabrication, engineering and maintenance operations run through levels most residents rarely have reason to visit. Beyond the established districts are older passages, service networks and sections of infrastructure that have fallen out of regular use altogether.
Neighbourhoods have grown around work, transit, trade and generations of people who have never known another home. For most of Horizon Point’s population, the station is not somewhere they live while waiting to go elsewhere.
It is simply home.

NOVARYN ARCHIVE // HISTORICAL RECORD
The Great Isolation
The arrivals stopped. Messages went unanswered. No verified contact from beyond the Verge followed.
For generations, the Novaryn Verge remained connected to a much larger human civilisation beyond its borders. Ships arrived carrying personnel, equipment, supplies and information. Messages travelled between the Verge and distant human settlements, including Earth.
Then, in 2280, something changed.
The arrivals stopped.
Expected vessels failed to appear. Long-range communications went unanswered. Attempts to establish confirmed contact beyond the Verge produced nothing.
At first, the silence was treated as temporary. Delays became weeks. Weeks became months. Eventually, it became clear that no explanation was coming.
No verified transmission from Earth or the wider human sphere followed.
No confirmed vessel arrived from beyond the Verge.
What caused the separation remains uncertain.
What is known is that the Verge was suddenly alone.
The period that followed became known as the Great Isolation.
Horizon Point and the surrounding installations were forced to adapt. Supply chains were rebuilt around resources available within the Verge. Industries changed. Existing infrastructure was repaired, repurposed or abandoned as the population learned to survive without support from beyond the region.
More than a century later, the isolation continues.
Earth survives in historical records, archived images and stories passed between generations.
For most people alive in the Verge today, it has never been anything more than that.

Miana Ortega was born aboard Horizon Point and has never known another home.
She works as a courier for Pegasus, the station’s largest civilian logistics network, carrying deliveries through districts that most residents experience only as names on a transit map. Years spent moving through Horizon Point have given her an intimate knowledge of its service corridors, crowded concourses, old pedestrian routes and the small connections between districts that official navigation systems tend to overlook.
Alongside her courier work, Miana is training in route surveying and station mapping through the Engineering Directorate. She has a particular interest in older schematics and the way Horizon Point has changed across generations.
Miana is practical, observant and quietly persistent. She does not go looking for mysteries, but she has difficulty ignoring something once it stops making sense.
To most residents, Horizon Point is simply home. Miana has begun to wonder how much of that home they have forgotten.

Kai Orlan is a third-year candidate at Novaryn Academy, where his studies centre on signal research, relay technology, historical telemetry and applied systems science.
Quiet and disciplined, Kai has little interest in being the loudest person in a room. He would rather listen, examine the evidence and arrive at his own conclusion. His academic record has earned him supervised access to selected material within the Central Archival Commons, including historical observations and communications records rarely encountered by most Academy candidates.
It is there that his curiosity has become more difficult to satisfy.
Generations of Academy scholarship have produced an immense record of life within the Verge, but Kai has begun noticing places where that record becomes strangely thin: incomplete observations, missing transmissions and references that lead to material no longer present in the archive.
Most students study the history they are given. Kai has started studying what is missing from it.
Akari Yoshida grew up closer to Horizon Point’s governing establishment than most.
Both of her parents work within the station’s governing body, and her childhood was shaped by the expectations and opportunities that came with a well-connected family. Akari, however, developed far more interest in the systems beneath that world than in the status surrounding it.
She now works within Horizon Point’s systems infrastructure, assisting with network maintenance, diagnostics and data management across the Meridian District. Her work also brings her into contact with Sovereign Link Systems, the secure network connecting the station’s primary computer mainframes and administrative infrastructure.
Akari is intelligent, analytical and quietly relentless. She understands that enormous systems are rarely as orderly as they appear from the outside. Errors accumulate. Permissions overlap. Old architecture survives beneath new architecture.
And information leaves traces. Even when the information itself is gone.
Jori Calder, known almost universally as Rook in the Yards, is a junior mechanical fabricator working among the repair bays and workshops of Horizon Point’s industrial levels.
The Mechanical Yards are filled with machines that have been repaired, rebuilt and repurposed across generations. Rook fits naturally into that world. He possesses an instinctive understanding of how things come apart and, more importantly, what they might become when put back together differently.
Discarded components rarely remain discarded around him for long.
Rook is inventive without being precious about it. He will strip a failed mechanism for parts, rebuild an assembly from whatever is available and happily ignore the intended purpose of a component if he can find a better one.
His curiosity extends beyond machinery, although machines remain easier to understand than people.
To most technicians, a broken object is another job waiting in the queue. To Rook, it is an invitation.

WORK IN PROGRESS
When It Became More
As I started thinking more about the music, I started wondering where it came from. What world did it belong to? Who lived there? What had happened there?
That was when the lore started growing.
At some point, it stopped being just an idea for a YouTube channel and started becoming a world. Stories started appearing, the characters became more important, and every new idea seemed to lead to another one.
Still in Development
NOVARYN is still very much a work in progress. Some ideas will change. Characters will develop. Locations will be redesigned. Parts of the story that seem important now may eventually become something completely different.
That is part of the process. I’m still discovering the world while I’m creating it, and this Creator Log is simply a place to share a little bit of that journey along the way.
